In a double blind, randomized controlled clinical trial in
children of 5-18 years age group suffering from recurrent tonsillitis, very encouraging
results were observed with administration of ProImmu alone. 25% cases had to go
for surgery from placebo group while from ProImmu treated group none required
surgical intervention.

In
a double masked, placebo controlled comparative clinical trial in corneal Ulcer
and Cunjunctivitis patients, PROIMMU was given orally with Ciprofloxacin eye drops
0.3% topically. Statistically significant results were seen for faster healing
of corneal ulcers alongwith quicker recovery from congestion in PROIMMU treated
patients. Similarly this combination therapy gave significantly better results
in Conjunctivitis alongwith faster relief from itching, foreign body sensation,
papillae and irritation.

Statistically
significant rise was observed in the lymphocyte count of cancer patients treated
with ProImmu and they quickly recovered from leucopenia. The rising trend in lymphocyte/leucocyte
count was observed within 5 to 7 days of ProImmu treatment which reached to normal
within 10 days. The patients of ProImmu treated group also responded better to
antibiotics when they suffered from bacterial infection. ProImmu is useful as
adjuvant to cancer therapy (radio and chemo-therapy) to strengthen the immune
status of cancer patients.

In
30 patients suffering from Dengue fever (a viral infection) with profound Thrombocytopaenia
(Platelet count < 50,000), the administration of ProImmu in a dose of 1 capsule
twice daily progressively increased their platelet count well beyond 50,000 within
48-96 hours and it returned to near normal level in 7-10 days. No hemorrhagic
complication could develop in these cases, there was no need for platelet transfusion
and their quick recovery was facilitated.

Humoral response in normal and physical agent (UV
rays) and chemical agent (cyclophosphamide/cyclosporin) induced immuno-deficient
mice on Haemagglutination Test showed positive immuno-protective and immuno-prophylactic
effect and immune-potentiating activity of ProImmu. Also there was a significant
increase in spleen weight and spleenic lymphocyte count, WBC count and RBC count
due to ProImmu. The macrophage function study showed a significant
increase in cell size, number of cells and phagocytic activity of macrophages,
due to administration of ProImmu. Chemotactic assay for phagocytic cell indicated
positive chemotaxis for leukocytes. Prof.(Dr.)
